Great turn out at Wedderburn!
Yesterday we ventured into the Maniototo to Wedderburn Tavern to share our hostel redevelopment plans and again, it was heartening to see a great turn out.
Ryan Dowling has two boys at the hostel and another coming through soon. Here’s what he had to say:
“The presentation at Wedderburn was excellent. The plans look great. That big question around why not just knock it down and start again was answered really well – and actually there is something really credible about keeping what’s already there and building on that heart and character of the existing buildings. My boys are extremely happy at OBs. The schoolwork, the staff, the hostel and their sport – it’s all just been excellent.
It was also great to meet the leadership behind this project – Lockie Chisholm, who is clearly instrumental in the project's planning, doesn’t even have a son in the hostel and he is giving his time voluntarily for this with no direct benefit to him – that just speaks volumes to me. I feel really confident to get behind the hostel redevelopment and do what I can to help make it a reality.”
