Opening doors, backing dreams...
Every year, the OBHS Foundation’s Student Support Fund opens doors for our boys – doors they might never have walked through without the help of the Foundation.
From performing on stage to competing in sports, from leadership experiences to academic challenges, the Foundation helps make the “impossible” possible.
We’re proud of what this fund achieves, and it is the stories from our boys that truly show its impact. This one, from Year 13 student Finn Marshall, is a perfect example:
“Over my five years at Otago Boys’ High School, the Jazz Band has shaped me – not just as a musician, but as a person.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that success isn’t only about working hard – it’s about having people who believe in you.
The OBHS Foundation has been that support for us. Their funding meant our combined OBHS/OGHS All Blues Jazz Band could take our full group to Blenheim for the Southern Jam Jazz Festival – instead of leaving key players behind due to cost.
It’s also about more than money; it’s knowing the supporters of this school can see our potential, want us to succeed and help make it possible for us to share our music.
