Aspiring Lodge is an outstanding resource for outdoor education for OBHS students. Contribute to its refurbishment.

Set in the picturesque Matukituki Valley and adjacent to some of the most outstanding natural features of the Southern Alps, including the Rob Roy Glacier, Diamond Lakes and the Matukituki River itself, Aspiring Lodge has provided a unique outdoor retreat for hundreds of boys. Farm land was acquired in the 1970s by dint of an Act of Parliament and the Lodge built by keen student and staff volunteers over the next few decades.

The refurbishment project seeks to insulate the building and upgrade cooking, sleeping and ablution facilities to 21st century standards. Excitingly, the project includes the implementation of solar and wind power generation as a sustainable alternative to the existing diesel generator. A learning room and environmental science lab are slated to be built sometime in the future.
